He got stuck on earth for several years and leads arthur and others on a crazy trip. Slartibartfast is the old man on the lost planet who helps arthur and his friends thru the planet and explains to arthur what the planet it used for. The plot of the story is a lose plot. Basically it is when the characters try to find answers to why earth was created and destroyed that leads them on a journey with lots of twists and turns.
Important themes and symbols One key theme that is also one of the most famous quotes from the story is "don't Panic" (Adams 3) . Through out the whole story each character either together or separate was faced with a challenge that could easily killed them. One for instance is when they are about to be thrown out of a alien ship( Adams 75) but when they are about to be thrown out ford says don't panic to arthur to calm him and assure him he has a way to get out of this sticky predicament. Another scenario is when they are heading towards the planet and they are threatened buy nuclear missiles, ford assures everyone to not panic and they he can help (Adams 126) . To say the least they survive. The reason why I found this so interesting was because it applies to life a lot. We are often stressed out by school or extra curricular sports. we have been thru scenarios like them before so we know that we can do it, so if we don't panic and look for a way to solve the problem we are better in the end. Over all I think the message that this quote embodies should be one remembered by everyone.
